We often believe our identity is defined by our thoughts, echoing Descartes’ famous “I think, therefore I am.” But what if this isn’t entirely true?
If we observe our thoughts calmly, we’ll notice they often arise spontaneously-from memory, from consciousness, sometimes from experiences we’ve forgotten or never had. These thoughts emerge, creating emotions like joy, sadness, or fear, without our control.
Our true self, then, becomes merely an observer of these passing thoughts. Like fleeting images in an old film, these thoughts appear and disappear, leaving behind only traces of memory. We become characters in a narrative we didn’t choose, unable to stop or redirect these mental sequences.
Our identity isn’t a continuous, solid line, but a series of momentary experiences. We exist in fragments-appearing and disappearing, like train carriages moving unpredictably.
The fundamental question remains: If our self is so transient, so ephemeral, how can we be certain of our existence?
This reflection invites us to question the nature of self, consciousness, and our fundamental understanding of being.

I was born into a poor family of tailors. We struggled to survive in the city. I loved reading books and had a passion for art, but I had no choices. I never had the chance to study art or learn writing properly. However, with strong determination, I began writing using just pencil and pen. At the same time, I used these tools to practice drawing.
Starting from those humble beginnings 20 years ago, many books I have written are now recognized in my country, with people willing to spend time reading them. As for my drawings, after keeping them to myself for many years, I’ve recently
started showing them in exhibitions whenever I have the opportunity. Currently I live in the countryside of Thailand, where I write and create art. I live a simple life, raising cats, watching the buffalo grow on my farm, and finding happiness in all of this.
The original mind is pure, boundless, without trace of birth, without dissolution, unchanging.

This body is like a garland of the devil’s flowers, beautiful for only a short while, and there is no way to avoid withering in the end.
In the reflection of time, the woman is the earth of the soul. Branches of wisdom grow, and flowers bloom as mindfulness awakens. The reclining Buddha atop her crown symbolizes the balance of existence, while creatures intertwine like the breath of the universe.”
